ATV Off-Road Adventures You Can Enjoy

ATV, the recognized abbreviation for "all-terrain vehicle", includes any types of small, open, motorized tricycle/buggy primarily designed for off-road riding and carrying just one person - the driver. Riding an ATV has been likened to riding an ordinary motorcycle, with the exception that they have extra wheels to provide the rider with extra stability at slower speeds.

A Brief History Of ATVs

Although the exact date is not known, the first ever ATV, designed with six wheels, was introduced to the public somewhere around the 1950s. However, this was improved by Honda producing the first ever three-wheel all-terrain vehicle, made famous when it was featured in the 1971 James Bond Movie - "Diamonds Are Forever".

Quickly following the release of three-wheel ATVs, various other configurations were designed for recreational use. These improved models offered big balloon tires, but no mechanical suspension. It wasn't until the early 1980s that ATVs with lower tires and suspension were introduced.

Different Models For Different Roles

The ATV quickly became a favorite mode of travel for US and Canadian hunters. This popularity was largely due to its ability to travel on terrain which other kinds of vehicles could not even consider crossing.

Aside from their recreational use, the release of the Honda ATC250R in 1981 led to sports models of ATV becoming even more popular. This model incorporated an impressive engine placement, full suspension, 5-speed transmission and stunning design. Truly a fun vehicle rather than a purposeful one.

Suzuki is renowned for developing the four-wheel models of high-performance all-terrain vehicles. Since Suzuki introduced the very first ATV for beginners in 1983, it has continuously produced a variety of 4-wheel ATVs for both beginners and experienced riders alike. Other leaders in ATV production include Yamaha and Kawasaki.

During the 1980s, a variety of safety issues were raised regarding the three-wheel all-terrain vehicles. Because of this, all ATV manufacturers discontinued the production of three-wheel and switched to four-wheel models. Six-wheel models are also available, but these all-terrain vehicles contain a small dump bed and an additional set of wheels that effectively increases load capacity.

ATVs Brought Up-To-Date

Today, you can ATV models designed for both the utility and the sport markets. Utility ATV models are bigger, 4-wheeled vehicles, but still capable of speeds of up to 65 miles per hour. They can be used for towing small trailers or dragging small loads on racks or dump beds, and are totally practical vehicles.

On the other hand, sports ATVs are designed with 2-wheel drive, manual transmission and a lighter, smaller design. These can run at up to 90 miles per hour.

It is no small wonder that many people the world over are participating in ATV riding. It allows adults to enjoy themselves immensely and ride through the race utilising an impressive vehicle performance and a unique design in a racing model.

Motorcycle Security and Alarms

FIN (Find It Now) has provided me an Early Warning Security System that truly is that. "An Early Warning Security System". Alarms and locks are only roadblocks and serve no purpose if you are 500 or even 5 miles away. You will not hear it and you can not prevent it. FIN texts and emails you within seconds letting you know your bike is being moved. You can be 5000 miles away and still know if someone is tampering with your bike. You can track it 24/7 in actual "real time" and locate it if it has been taken. It even has a built in back up battery so if your power has been disconnected, you can still track and locate it. I even took it off my bike and put it on my ATV for 2 days while hunting. I did not even have to install it on my ATV. I zip tied it to the plastic and used the back up battery to track it. I never even hooked it up to power.

Now here is where my personal story fits in. I live in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I went away for the holidays and a day after Xmas I got a text saying my bike had been moved. I freaked out and called my neighbor and sure enough someone had broken out the side window into my garage where my bike was parked. The potential thief was not caught but was scared off by my neighbor. This happened about 11 pm and thanks to FIN and my neighbor my bike and anything else in my garage the thief could have made off with was safe. It did cost me $60 for a replacement window, but I was happy to spend the $60 in this case.

This was the best money I have spent in quite some time. I have been in contact with the people at FIN and told them my story. Very nice people by the way... they ended up sending me a few very cool Koozies and pens and thanked me for calling.

I wrote this to let you guys know that there are still good people out there that sell a good Product and in my opinion, FIN is one of them and I am happy to let others know about it.

Inside Information - Low Cost Motorcycle Insurance

You are going to need insurance if you are someone who has recently purchased a bike. There are several ways to find low cost motorcycle insurance or cheap scooter insurance. It helps to have some inside information on motorcycle insurers with your search, since this is something that is not always advertised.

You will notice that there are many agents that are out there, while you are seeking low cost motorcycle insurance. You will come across several companies that do sell motorcycle insurance, which does not really help make the decision any easier. Often, using a site that does comparisons is one of the ways to make your search easier.

One of the best methods for finding the best price for your money, is on-line. You are able to search a broad variety of sites in a short amount of time. You can get numerous quotes from many of the bigger companies out there.

In any case, you should make sure to shop around and that you do a lot of research, so that you know the place insuring you. Try to make sure that you get a quote from every motorcycle insurance company that is out there. Additionally, think of taking a safety driving course for motorcycles, which will usually help to save you money.

Often times, many of the companies will give you close to ten percent off just for taking one of these classes. Another thing to consider is the type of motorcycle that you get, since your age and the type of motorcycle that you get can affect the price that you get. In any case, you are going to want to make sure that the insurance that you get covers enough so that you will not suffer any kinds of financial loss in the event that you are to get into an accident or have any kind of damage happen to your motorcycle.

You will want to be sure that whatever money you receive from an insurance company is enough to cover all expenses associated with the replacement cost and repairs of your motorcycle, in the case that this is what you need. You will also want to pay close attention to the rates you discover, since most of the rates that appear high are not in reality. When you compute many of the rates, you will see that the price is not as bad as it looks.

Be on the watch for companies that people say are cheap, as these can be the ones that in reality are the most expensive ones in the end. Another thing to keep in mind is, when some of the insurance companies will offer consumers discounts anywhere from ten to fifteen percent provided the policy is applied for on-line.

One thing to remember when you do finally get your policy is to continue to check other companies as your renewal is about to expire. The purpose for doing this is because many of the companies assume that most people will not take the time to do this, so companies do not worry about the competition.

Comparing Caravan Insurers

When looking for caravan insurance you may wish to search online and compare the cost of the insurance. Just as important however is comparing caravan insurers. Some providers may offer you more for your money than others might and some may offer you ways to reduce your premiums.

When comparing insurance you may wish to check how much the provider is asking by way of excess on the policy. The excess is the amount that you need to find in a cash sum if you need to claim and then the provider takes over the rest of the claim. Some may ask more than others and as this has to come out of your pocket if a claim is made the less you have to pay out the better it is on your pocket.

Look for caravan insurance providers offering polices that allow saving on your caravan insurance premiums. For instance, some may provide you with reductions on your premiums if you are a member of a specialist caravan club. You may also be able to save if you boost the security measures on your caravan and install such as an alarm or security lighting around your static caravan or a hitchlock on your touring van.

When you need to make savings on your caravan insurance, you may wish to check what the provider offers by way of contents replacement. Contents insurance is included in both static and touring insurance and this typically replaces the contents in your caravan if they are destroyed, damaged or stolen. If the provider replaces contents new for old then the premiums are typically more than if you had taken insurance that considered depreciation.

During your search for caravan insurance when comparing caravan insurers, you may wish to check the small print of any policy you are considering. This is where you are able to find what it and is not covered in the insurance policy. Without checking limitations and exclusions, you may take out inadequate protection or have protection that you do not need, which boosts up the premiums.

Insurance for RV Maintenance Companies and Vendors

If you run an RV repair center or have a mobile RV installation business, motor repair or simply change oil you will need loads of insurance. Failure to buy the proper insurance may save you money in the short run, yet it could cost you your life savings. Don't risk it.

Should you have insurance even if you are doing simple repairs or even mere oil changes? I believe you should. You never know when a customer or employee might fall off of the vehicle while you are working on it. And in the case of oil changing anything could happen or you could be blamed for something that is not even really your fault.

You need garage keepers liability anyway as you are in "Care, Custody or Control" of the vehicle when you have the keys and you need those to pop the hood and run the motor to warm up the engine and oil anyway. If you are on top of the RV and the customer has given you the key or unlocked it for you then you are still in the "Care, Custody or Control" of the vehicle and there is no getting around the law.

If you change the oil in an RV sure it is true that you do not need jack up the vehicle to get under the motor home usually, although sometimes you might, still there is liability issues. Sometimes, the dip stick evac works very well. If you have to jack the motor home using a small or large floor jacks and stands then you do put yourself in increased liability risks.

On hot days you really have to watch the parking lot paving in some places as not to leave holes where the wheels on the jack were, some crews have used the new material that is flexible and distributes the weight. Damage to property is to be considered as well.

Play it safe get insured and know your risks. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

What May Be Included in Insurance For Static Caravans?

Insurance for static caravans may cover a wide range of things, from protecting the contents of your freezer to providing you with a brand new replacement caravan in the event yours was destroyed. The cost of insurance may vary between providers as can the limits and exclusions, so these do need to be compared.

As your caravan is static, you may have chosen to add a patio, decking and fencing around it. If so, you may want to check if these are covered in your insurance policy in the event they were destroyed by fire or storm. At the same time, you may also want to check whether your TV aerial is covered for damage by storm and your awning. Both of these are generally covered in the policy but the insurance might not extend to any damage resulting from storm.

If you are buying a new static caravan, you may be able to benefit from having new for old insurance included in your cover. If the worst happened and your caravan was destroyed in a fire or was beyond repair due to storm damage and it was under a certain age the insurance company typically replaces your caravan. If the damage has been extreme and the site needs clearing the policy may also pay towards this.

Caravan owners that rent out their caravan may be asked by the site owner to ensure that they have public liability insurance. Public liability insurance protects you financially if a claim is made against you if someone dies or gets hurt whilst staying in your caravan.

When renting you may want to have loss of rental income in your policy, in the event you are unable to rent out due to repairs on the caravan following damage by a hazard (such as fire). If this is not included in your insurance, you may potentially lose a great deal of income.

Your personal belongings are usually included in insurance for static caravans. However, there are always limits imposed on the amount you are allowed to claim for single items. For instance, this may include the contents of your freezer or your personal possessions. Always check the terms and conditions of your insurance policy over very carefully before buying it to ensure you know what is and is not protected in the policy.

Insuring Your American RV Motorhome

Buying an American RV is a huge investment, one which takes careful consideration to ensure you get the motorhome to suit your needs in terms of size, accommodation and extra features. Once you've made that decision, and found your ideal RV, you'll want to protect it with a specialist motorhome insurance policy.

One point worthy of note is that some specialist motorhome insurance policies will only cover UK and European motorhomes so it's worth searching online for companies that specifically say they can cover American RVs.

When looking for insurance, be sure to find a policy that covers the full value of the vehicle and any equipment you intend to take along with you. A standard motor insurance policy is unlikely to cover all your essential motorhoming equipment such as awnings, water and waste carriers, pots and pans and generators, so ensure the cover you choose does. Very often specialist RV motorhome insurance policies will cover several thousand pounds worth of such items automatically.

As a high value motorhome, you may be required to fit extra security to find insurance cover. A tracking device fitted to your American RV will not only provide peace of mind that your motorhome will be recovered if it is stolen, but it could also mean a substantial discount off your insurance premium. Before investing in a tracking device, ask your insurance company what their requirements are and which devices they will accept as there are many products on the market.

One of the benefits of buying an American motorhome is the amount of accommodation space you get compared to some European motorhomes. It is therefore more comfortable for longer trips with more storage space too. If you fancy heading out in your motorhome for several weeks or even months, you'll have plenty of time to explore outside of the UK, taking in some of the countries across the channel. If you do plan to travel through mainland Europe, look for an insurance company that will cover you wherever you are planning to visit or travel through, and for the length of your planned trip.

Another consideration if you are travelling to Europe is whether your tracking device will still cover you. Make sure the device you choose is capable of tracking your American RV in every country you are likely to visit.

Whether you plan to holiday in the UK only, or venture farther afield to Europe, you should certainly consider taking out breakdown cover with your insurance policy. This may be included in the price of your premium or it may be something you can add. Either way, be sure to ask whether the policy is suitable for American RVs. You may find that the breakdown company will only recover vehicles up to a certain length or weight and your American motorhome is too big. Look for a policy that offers breakdown cover with no length or weight restrictions - don't wait until you breakdown to find out.

Finally something you may find interesting is that some American RV insurance policies offer cover on a 'replacement with new' basis. This means if your RV is stolen and not recovered or written off, you will get a brand new replacement RV motorhome. This can apply for motorhomes up to two years old and can be a great benefit for those owners unfortunate enough to lose their motorhome.

With all the above considerations in mind, you're now ready to find the most suitable American RV insurance policy for you and your motorhome and protect it should the worst happen.

3 Tips to Help You Get Cheap Scooter Insurance

Even if you purchase cheap scooter insurance you are not only providing cover for yourself but for other road users as well. Riding any kind of scooter or motorcycle without insurance could cost you considerably more than money should you be involved in any accident in the future. In some cases it could lead to loss of your driving license or a jail sentence.

So how does one go about finding scooter insurance that is affordable? Below we offer some tips that you may find helpful.

Tip 1 - If you are already provided with insurance cover for another vehicle such as a car then ask your insurer if they can provide you with cover for a scooter as well. In some cases they may offer you a multi vehicle policy that can provide you with savings and so keep the cost of insuring a scooter down.

Tip 2 - Although you may not consider it important it is worth taking additional courses that can help to improve your riding skills. Many insurers are willing to reduce their premiums on those riders who take such courses as they see these riders as responsible ones.

Tip 3 - Even if you have passed your motorcycle test at a young age it is still far better to keep the size of the engine down as much as possible. Remember the less power the machine has then the less insurance premiums you will be expected to pay. Again insurers see those who ride small engine machines as much safer and sensible riders.

RV Insurance - Don't Travel Without It!

RV insurance can easily save your family vacation. RV insurance provides RVers with peace of mind whether the RV is parked in front of your home or at a campsite in Yosemite National Park. RV insurance provides you with coverage for a variety of different events including:

o Accident

o Theft

o Vandalism

o Collision

o Smoke

o Fire

o Hail

o Windstorms

o Landslides

RV insurance can also provide you with coverage for your personal property should your RV be broken into or vandalized. This is important because many people keep belongings in their RV that they wouldn't consider keeping in their car. This includes camping equipment, camcorders, laptops, VCRs, DVD players, clothing and jewelry. This insurance can provide you with emergency assistance in the form of lodging, a rental car and the replacement of your belongings. You are also covered from liability should a campsite visitor slip or fall.

This insurance is essential for many RVers. For some an RV is more than their vehicle for traveling, it may very well be their full-time home. Because of this, you need special insurance coverage to ensure that your travels are safe no matter where you are. Many RVers place their RV on their regular car insurance policy. This is not necessarily a good idea. By placing your RV on your auto policy, you will not be able to take advantage of the liability insurance if someone should injure himself or herself on the RV or your campsite. Your car policy will also not cover emergency assistance should you be involved in an accident that renders your RV undriveable.

Many RV insurance policies will also cover:

o Bodily injury or property damage liability

o Uninsured motorists

o Medical payments

o Comprehensive and Collision Options

o Roadside assistance

o Emergency expenses

o Vacation liability

o Mexico physical damage

o Trailer

o Fire Department Service Charge

If you are a full-timer, you may want to consider what your options are when it comes to living on the road full-time. These packages are similar to a homeowner's policy and provide similar coverage. They will include personal liability, medical payments to others, loss assessment and storage shed contents.

The road can be a dangerous place and you want to ensure that you are adequately covered when traveling. No matter what type of RV you have you can insure it with an RV policy. You can opt to not carry the insurance in the winter, but if your RV was broken into, vandalized or damaged you may not be covered. RV insurance covers you no matter where you are parked, so it's better safe than sorry.

Insurance For Static Caravan Owners

If you are the lucky owner of a static caravan, there are many benefits to owing your own home away from home. However, one of the downsides to being an owner is that you have to payout costs associated with it and one of these is insurance for static caravan.

All year round winter cover

There are numerous things to consider when owning your own caravan. This is more so during the winter months when you generally do not use it. There is the possibility of thieves breaking in and stealing the contents of your caravan or vandalising it.

There is a higher risk of water pipes bursting and of course, the winter weather in the UK may bring snow, sleet, and flooding.

Any of these may cause damage to the caravan itself or the contents so it is essential for your peace of mind that the insurance company provides year round cover for your caravan. Most will ask that as part of your insurance cover, you take preventative measures, such as draining down your heating system, etc, in order to lessen any risks.

You may wish to check that your policy covers damage from storm to the aerial and any patio, decking or fencing around it as these may be costly to replace and are often not included as a standard part of a static caravan insurance policy.

Liability cover

Many owners rent out their caravan when they are not using it themselves. If you rent your caravan out you might wish to ensure that you have adequate liability insurance cover behind you in your caravan policy. Liability insurance is needed in the event that a third party, such as a holidaymaker, were to sue you if they suffered loss or damage while on your premises. The policy then typically pays towards your legal costs.

These are just some of the benefits of typical insurance for static caravan owners. Of course, when looking for and comparing cover always check the summary and the small print of any policy to find out what protection the policy gives.

Discount Tires, Wheels and Rims - Finding The Good Deals

We rely on our cars and trucks for so much these days. Life as we know it would cease to exist if we did not have them. Our cars and trucks are more than just transportation, in many ways they are extensions of who we are. You can change the look of your vehicle just by changing the wheels and it becomes more unique. Your tires will need to be changed fairly regularly to maintain good handling and help prevent accidents. Finding good discount tires and wheels will make these changes easier on the budget.

The Right Size And Load Rating

Before you start shopping for discount tires and wheels, you will want to check and see what size tires you will need for your particular vehicle. You can find this information easily either by looking in the owner's manual for your car, truck, SUV, motorcycle or ATV or by looking on the sidewall of your current tires. You may also see a load rating on the tire such as XL and you should make a note of that as well. Once you know the size and load rating of the tires you need, you are ready to begin comparison shopping.

You may wish to call a few tire stores in your local area to request a free quote. It is fast and easy to get several prices on the internet and you will also be able to read customer reviews and have more control over your choices this way. There are many online tire sellers to choose from and will often find free shipping deals that sweeten the pot and make shopping online an easier and more economical way to purchase new tires and wheels.

Package Deals

When you purchase the wheels and tires together you will usually be able to get a package deal and free mounting and balancing will be included in addition to the free shipping offer. This is probably your best option in many ways since installing them will be easier and they will look great. This adds visual appeal to the vehicle as well as increasing its safety and fuel efficiency - tires that don't stay inflated will use more fuel.

Safety Considerations

There are certain safety requirements that all tires must meet so you needn't worry over whether discounted tires will be safe for you to drive on. As long as you get tires that are properly rated for the weight of your vehicle (larger, heavier vehicles require stronger tires) you should be perfectly safe. It is important to rotate your tires often to encourage them to wear evenly and make them last longer. This will provide an opportunity to check the wear on the tires and gauge how quickly they need to be replaced.

One of the best things about the web is the amount of information that is available to you and that includes information about tires, so take advantage of that and read all the reviews about the tires you are interested in before you purchase them. Some tires are better in dry conditions and others work well in bad weather. Depending on where you live, you can use this information to get the least expensive tires and wheels that will work for your vehicle where you live. Buying discount tires and wheels online is a great way to keep your car or truck safely on the road and avoid unnecessary accidents.

4 Ways to Get Cheap Motorcycle Insurance

Who hasn't seen themselves driving a great motorcycle?  The power, the speed, the sense of freedom - and it's so much fun!

And nowadays, with the price of fuel having hit all time highs and the possibility of it going there or even higher, more and more people have decided to live their dreams and get that bike they've wanted for so long. But like a car, you do have to have insurance for your motorcycle.

If you want to get cheap motorcycle insurance you'll want to consider these things:

1.  If you have a garage, park your motorcycle in it.

You will get lower insurance rates if the insurance company knows that your motorcycle is locked away in a shed or a garage. It's simple - if it's locked up there is less of a risk that someone will steal your bike or vandalize it.

2.  If you own another vehicle, add it to your car's insurance policy.

Get in touch with your auto insurance agent and ask for a quote.  Often insurance companies give multi-vehicle discounts, so you might save money on your car insurance as well.

3.  Before you buy your bike find out how much it cost to insure it.

Just like cars, some bikes are costlier to insure than others.  A lot of the cost is because of the bike's enhancements. If the main reason you want a motorcycle is to save gas and you are not as concerned about its appearance, a less expensive motorcycle can cost you less in insurance.

4.  Drive the motorcycle less often.

Ask about low mileage discounts when you're looking for motorcycle insurance.  Some companies offer it.  If you don't plan on riding a lot, see how you can qualify for it. Like with other types of vehicle insurance, your motorcycle insurance premiums will drop after you prove that you're a responsible driver.  So stay within the speed limit and try to avoid making any claims.

In order to get cheap motorcycle insurance either call several agents or go online to be able to compare costs.

5 Factors That Will Help You Get Cheap Motorbike Insurance

Where can you find cheap motorbike insurance? Certain factors affect how the companies will rate your premium such as:

1) Your bike - as with cars, if you have the newest, flashiest more expensive model then you will pay a higher price. If you are new to motorbikes, it is a good idea to go for an older model to start with. Apart from reducing your policy charges, it is better to practice your new skills on an ancient motorcycle than a pristine machine.

2) How long you had your license? If you have only just qualified the chances of you being in an accident are statistically quite high and this will make the accessor nervous. You can improve your risk profile if you complete some advanced courses and post your certificates to your insurance company.

3) Your age - again statistically teenagers and younger drivers are more likely to have accidents due to immaturity combined with a lack of driving experience. Not all young drivers behave irresponsibly but they do end up paying the price of the others. All you can really do is prove that you are responsible and mature by not getting into any trouble and steering clear of accidents. Building up your no claims bonus is one way to reduce future costs.

4) How you intend to use your bike? - If you are going to travel to work every day, you will pay higher charges than someone who only uses it for casual outings at the weekend. The problem doesn't always lie with the biker but with irresponsible car drivers who appear to think bike owners are both invisible and invincible. If they run over you, you will walk away. Unfortunately as we all know this is not the case. Also where you park your bike will affect your policy.

5) Your driving history will be taken into account including any accidents you had while driving a motor vehicle. Yes I know it is like comparing apples and oranges but the actuaries are looking for trends.

So now you know how they access your application, what other tricks can you use to drive down your premiums?

You need to shop around for quotes as they can vary considerably from one insurer to the next. You need to raise your deductibles. If they see that you are prepared to take on some of the risk, they will reward you with lower costs.

If possible try to fit security features to your bike to help prevent it being stolen i.e. alarms and immobilizers'. Park your bike in the garage and not on the drive. If you don't use the bike for work, you should qualify for a discount as your mileage and therefore your chance of being in an accident is lower.

Another way to reduce your costs is to make sure you are not over insured as some policies such as your household or medical may provide overlapping similar cover. Cheap motorbike insurance is available; you now know how to get it!
